888poker signs up Luis Suarez

Liverpool striker, Luis Suarez has been signed up as the official worldwide ambassador for online poker firm, 888poker.

A controversial figure, Suarez ended last season with a 10-game ban, yet finished 2014 with two Player of the Year awards.

This time last year, Liverpool’s sponsor, Standard Chartered and Suarez’s own sponsor, Adidas, both publicly criticised his behaviour on the pitch.

Clearly aware of the consequences of such a deal, 888poker admitted that they spoke to customers beforehand. However, they found that there was “a lot of excitement about it.”

Through the tie-in, the Uruguayan will take part in live events and become a regular player on the site, as well as having his own webpage.

Suarez has become one of the most sought after Premier League players, so while the football season may be drawing to an end, his profile is likely to remain high throughout the summer, not least with Uruguay in England’s group during the World Cup.
