We are looking to recruit a dynamic and passionate Senior Content Officer whose main focus will be to create online content and journeys that meet our users’ needs, taking responsibility for designing, writing and editing content that re-invents public services for the digital age.
You will work closely with services across the Council, building excellent relationships at every level. You’ll be able to absorb and analyse information, and rewrite complex language and processes, using plain English and GDS guidelines, to make content easy to understand and deliver compelling digital services.
Using analytics and data alongside your ideas and passion for improving users’ experience, your content will be mobile-first, clear, concise and wholly geared towards the user. You’ll see through the language of policies and procedures to what users want to know. And once content is live, you’ll manage its continuing usefulness, relevance to users, and timely removal.
As Senior Content Officer you will manage a small team of web content officers and editors, guiding them to develop digital skills including writing content for the web, user-centred design practices, HTML, website accessibility standards, information architecture and the use of Google Analytics.
You will need to be able to work flexibly and use your own initiative with little supervision in a busy and pressurised environment. The ability to deal with competing priorities and to work to tight deadlines is essential.
Manchester City Council is an Equal Opportunities Employer and we positively welcome applications from all candidates regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.
