What’s the Lead Front End Web Developer role all about?

With plans to expand further into Europe, we are on the lookout for the very best developer to lead our newly formed International Platform development stream. Sat within the platform team, the purpose of the international stream is simple; we want to build the best e-commerce websites in Europe and give our customers an experience to smile about, no-matter what language they speak.

Collaborating closely with the UI & UX, development and brand design teams, you’ll help to deliver an innovative and highly effective web experience for our customers, across a multitude of devices, throughout Europe. Our creative atmosphere will make you flourish. You’ll be free to innovate and encouraged to bring new and exciting ideas to the table.

Our e-commerce team is filled with talented people who love what they do and care passionately about their work. We’re dynamic and forward-thinking, and are looking for someone to fit right in. You’ll work alongside highly experienced designers, front and back-end developers, analysts, project managers and directors.

What will my responsibilities be as a Lead Front End Web Developer?

You’ll have previous experience in a team lead role alongside a strong technical skillset. You should have experience in building websites and web applications using HTML5, CSS and JavaScript. You’ll be comfortable hand crafting code using semantic, optimised mark-up and will have a strong understanding of responsive web design, media queries, CSS transitions etc. Along with the technical aspect you will be comfortable in a management situations, leading and driving team quality and output.

What skills do I need to have as a Lead Front End Web Developer?

Skilled in creating solid, clean, hand-coded HTML5 & CSS3
Experience with JavaScript / Angular / jQuery or equivalent frameworks
Understanding of W3C standards, coding best practices and CSS pre-processors (mainly SASS)
Experience using source control (Mercurial, Subversion)
Understanding of ASP.NET
Solid Knowledge of Object Orientated programming principles
Excellent problem solving abilities
Experience in a team lead role
Related degree or equivalent experience
