Custard’s organic search service has a proven track record of delivering excellent results for our clients. Our offering is underpinned by industry-leading technical SEO knowledge and incorporates highly-skilled consultancy, in-depth site audits, ongoing SEO housekeeping and more.
We’re now looking for someone to join our team and help improve it even further.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Being principally responsible for the delivery of our organic search service day to day
• Helping to plan and execute SEO campaigns
• Auditing new client sites, ensuring that your findings are developed into a deliverable roadmap of activity to ensure that our advice is correctly implemented in a timely manner
• Overseeing and checking the execution of monthly housekeeping activities, managing the workload of our junior SEO exec, making sure that all work is completed on time each month
• Keeping abreast of SEO best practice, disseminating information about emerging tools and techniques to staff and clients
• Participating in client calls and meetings, including new business meetings, at our office in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, elsewhere in the UK and abroad when necessary
• Continually improving and refining our organic search service, leading the adoption of new tools and techniques including the introduction of bespoke software and API integrations
• Working closely with and reporting to the technical director, who has 15 years of digital experience in a wide range of disciplines
• Assisting with the development of Custard’s public image as an SEO thought leader by contributing to our social media profiles, writing for our blog, attending events and potentially representing and speaking for the company at conferences

• Thorough understanding of how search engines work, and how they interact with websites
• At least 3 years’ experience in a dedicated organic search role
• Front- and back-end web development experience is essential – but note that the role we’re offering does not require you to actually carry out development work on client sites
• Expert-level Excel skills
• A high degree of numeracy and analytical problem solving skills
• Experience in large-scale data analysis and manipulation from multiple sources
• Familiarity with industry standard tools and software packages
• Ability to explain and communicate complex technical issues to less technically-minded members of the team and clients
• Excellent written and spoken English skills. You will be working on a lot of documentation which is expected to be client-ready – consequently you will need a strong grasp of spelling and grammar, and you will routinely be expected to explain that documentation to colleagues and clients in a clear, concise manner.
• Experience with algorithmic and manual penalty analysis, and making recommendations to address/escape such penalties
• High degree of proficiency with Google Analytics & Search Console, and fluency in all the usual organic search software packages – which you’ll be required to talk about in detail at interview.
• Degree-level education is preferred but not essential

What we can offer you:

• An interesting role with a high degree of autonomy
• The opportunity to shape and mould our organic search offering in your own way
• A fun working environment in the centre of Manchester, with Friday bar, regular socials and a casual dress code
• 25 days paid leave from starting, plus bank holidays
• Access to staff profit share scheme once you pass your probation
