Your core focus will be building standards compliant websites and front-end development work on web application projects. We’ll expect a real understanding of the various components of front-end development including semantic HTML, scalable CSS, DOM manipulation, progressive enhancement, responsive design and front-end optimisation.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript in order to develop quality interfaces, as well as experience of working with SASS
• Test and debug across a variety of popular browser and devices
• Implement responsive web solutions using media queries and techniques such as flexible grids, flexible images and progressive enhancement
• Create themes for open-source CMS solutions such as WordPress
• Experience in CSS/JS animation and interaction effects
• Thorough understanding of UX best practice
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of PHP
• Have sufficient knowledge of image editing software and basic design skills.
• Be fastidious in using workflow tools such as version control (SVN)
• Research the latest techniques and advocate best-practices
• Be seen as the first point of contact for all front-end development queries
• Take part in ‘peer reviews’, offering constructive feedback on colleagues’ work as well as receiving it
• Understand how SEO should be inherently built into everything we develop, including how to implement Microformats/Microdata
• Communicate with client services’ effectively and set expectations where necessary
• Manage your own time effectively, informing the project manager of expected delays in scheduled work
• Support less experienced members of the team with their work and help to develop their skillset.
• Take responsibility for your own work and do all that is possible to deliver work to a high standard and on time
• Any other duties as deemed fit by the business

Requirements:

• At least 1 years’ experience in a web design or development role
• Ability to hand code HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript
• Understanding of DOM manipulation, progressive enhancement, responsive design and front-end optimisation
• Experience of testing and debugging across a variety of popular browser and devices
• Be fastidious in using workflow tools such as version control (SVN)
• Understand how SEO should be inherently built into everything we develop, including how to implement Microformats / Microdata
• The ability to convey best-practice to the team and explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience
• A good understanding of accessibility and developing for assistive technologies
• Excellent organisation of work and work assets, such as suitable commenting of CSS files
• Desire to constantly push skill set and apply cutting-edge techniques when appropriate
