Manchester Jazz Festival (mjf) presents a vibrant and diverse 10 day programme of contemporary each July/August at several indoor and outdoor city centre venues. The programme features new commissioned and cross-genre work, emerging bands, international debuts, other collaborations special focus on North West artists.

mjf is seeking to recruit a part-time freelance Festival Manager. mjf has recently undertaken an organisational review and will be implementing a new structure over the coming months in which Festival Manager plays a central role. The role is a strategic, managerial and administrative one candidate will work in close consultation with the Artistic Director and the Producer as part of the Management Team.

The candidate will have the support of Trustees who meet at Board level 4 times per annum and called upon throughout the year to offer specialist advice on everything from marketing to finances.

The candidate will help maintain and develop the festival’s position within the industry and publicly the best UK festival for contemporary jazz and will also play a full part in the day to day running organisation.

Length of contract: 4½ months (mid-April-end of August) with the possibility of an employed 4 week post being available from September

Fee: £6,500-£7,500 depending on experience (salary for employed post from September onwards, relevant would be £25-27,000 per year pro-rata depending on experience).
