It has a thriving creative and communications sector; to represent the City and Council justly, our own communications team has to be exemplary in that sector. As an organisation we have an ambitious Digital City Strategy to develop Manchester into one of the world’s foremost digital cities by 2020.
Our central communications service is now recruiting for an experienced digital leader to join the team. We operate like an in-house full-service agency so you be working on variety of work from transforming customer facing services to digital, city wide social marketing campaigns and supporting wider communications campaigns from elections, foster care to litter/recycling.

We are looking for candidates who have a passion for digital delivery, know the art of what is possible and are used to formulating innovative digital ideas and requirements between clients, creatives and marketing teams. The role will require leadership, to manage and develop our digital products, including a website, an intranet and all related apps. It also includes the requirement to continue the development of and further implementation of our digital marketing and social media strategies and plans.

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate how they will help us continue to make a positive difference to the lives of the people who live, work and study in our amazing city. The work we produce has a real effect on people’s lives, we like to think that we produce contemporary work that excites our audiences and improves users experience. Excellent people and communications skills are necessities as are the abilities to juggle and thrive in a high pressure deadline orientated environment with challenging budgets where you will be working on a variety of projects at the same time.

You should be experienced at digital of course, but also at forging key relationships and fostering collaborative working with clients seeking at all times to build realistic, achievable project timing plans, on budget and on time. As well as being able to demonstrate leadership, strategic and commercial thinking and acting as a consultant to senior managers within our directorates to advise on the appropriate digital channels to support their key priorities.

Technical Requirements

In addition to significant experience of delivering effective and innovative digital communications to a wide range of audiences, professional skills need to be demonstrated.

A thorough understanding of advanced web services platforms, the potential for web 2.0 & 3.0 and social media and digital marketing specialisms. Qualifications expected include degree level in Digital Media and or Chartered Institute of Marketing Digital Diploma or equivalents.
