Educated to degree standard, with proven experience in a public relations or press officer role, you will have excellent communication skills with the ability to interpret complex and academic information into engaging copy for a range of audiences. You will also establish effective working relationships with journalists at national and specialist publications and key members of the University to ensure a daily feed of news and web stories. Experience using tools such as video, digital and social platforms are also required.
You must be able to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of work. You will also pay attention to detail, prioritise your workload effectively, work flexibly and demonstrate creativity and initiative.
About the Role
You will be responsible for delivering a proactive media relations and news generation service to ensure positive coverage in external media, the University website and associated social media. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast paced and creative press office environment where you will source stories and talk to people at all levels about research and projects that will have national and international impact.
