Woodwork Music is a 15 year old, award-winning music synchronisation company based in Manchester who are experts in sourcing and licensing, original or existing music for use in high profile, ads, TV shows and films around the world including ad campaigns for  Nike, Playstation, Audi and Hennessy and TV series and films, such as Better Call Saul, The OC, Breaking Bad, and Pretty Little Liars as well as (on air now!) Wanderlust and Press. 

Based in Salford, minutes from Manchester city centre and in the cutting edge artistic hub that is Islington Mill, Woodwork Music – one of the UK’s leading music agencies representing labels, artists and composers for music licensing and creation in visual media - is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Business Affairs Manager to join it’s team. 

Job description

To ensure the smooth running of the business - dealing with contractual paperwork and liaising with all other staff in order to oversee, update and develop relevant internal processes and lead one-off projects. 

To act as an Executive P.A. to the business owner.

Job purpose

To manage and maintain systems in a small but busy office to allow for smoother- running, greater efficiency and maximisation of business opportunities.

Person Spec

  • You must have had at least 18 months experience of business administration at a senior level, preferably, but not essentially, in the creative industries. 
  • This is a small company so a degree of flexibility and deputising for other roles is inevitable. And please read the Essential and Preferable lists below before applying!
  • Self-reliant but also be a team player, enthusiastic, meticulous with an eye for detail.

Essential

  • You must have had at least 18 months experience of business administration at a senior level, preferably, but not essentially, in the creative industries. 
  • Fluent in Excel.
  • You must be bright, organised, friendly, flexible and creative. 
  • You must have experience of creating/ implementing/ managing businesses processes. 

Preferable

  • Interest in music, commercial production and advertising and an understanding of these industries.
  • Experience of (licensing) contracts. 
  • Experience of setting up and maintaining business processes and systems. 
  • Ideally your experience has been in the area of music (specifically music publishing), advertising or TV broadcast.

Duties & responsibilities 

  • Draw up licensing contracts and managing process of licensing clearances from agreement to completion and filing with fully signed agreements. 
  • Support the Creative Director, Senior Music Producer and the Head of Synch in negotiating the licenses they are dealing with. 
  • Raise quotations on new and existing synchronization licences.
  • Draw up contracts to represent record labels/ artist clients and ensure that accurate records of those deals are maintained for financial and licensing clearance purposes. 
  • Managing financial and legal paperwork for the Owner/ Founder. 
  • Manage communication with external Business Service suppliers e.g. PR, Insurance and IT & Telecomms companies.
  • Create, maintain and implement existing systems, databases and paperwork across the business to ensure efficiency. 
  • KPIs – To collect and collate key analytics data to present at weekly Business Development meetings. 
  • Managing one off projects – either as lead or supporting others - in order that they are kept on track and completed on time. 
  • Managing all aspects of the office including suppliers, office supplies inc telecomms, subscriptions, stationery, IT supplies and software. 
  • Booking travel and accommodation & creating travel itineraries for staff.
  • Managing and take minutes of weekly Business Development meetings. 
  • Publishing registrations – input and track rights information with sub-publishers, PRS and PPL .
  • PR – managing external PR team and maintaining weekly status updates. 
  • Awards – overseeing and managing Awards entries.

Minimum of 20 hours a week but we have some flexibility with the hours for this role; to be discussed further at interview.
