Social Media Content Coordinator

Would you like to be part of the exciting reemergence of Leeds University Union? We never stopped supporting students throughout the pandemic but had to change what we offered and what we could open.

Now, as we plan beyond the pandemic, we need a social media content coordinator to ensure our online content connects with key audiences (staff, students, the University of Leeds and the general public) and drives high engagement.

For the first year, the main focus of the role will be on supporting the reestablishment of engagement with our commercial operations including bars, cafes, Cooperative Franchise, nightclub and live music offer, working closely with teams in those areas and LUU’s events team.

The job will involve

Creating engaging, fun online content working with a variety of teams in LUU, the Content and Social Producer and LUU’s Communications Manager;Community management – facilitating online conversations working with student communications assistants;Keeping up-to-date with current and developing social media trends, working with the team to implement them into the social media strategy.Developing an optimal posting schedule, considering web traffic and customer engagement metrics.

The role is based on the University of Leeds campus (Leeds City Centre) but will be largely remote with occasional days on campus until September 2021*

*We are currently midway through a project including consulting with staff to establish what the working arrangements (office/remote/flexible etc.) will be beyond September.

About You

Are you passionate about social media and enthusiastic about using each platforms’ functionality in new and interesting ways?

You’ll need

  • Experience of creating and planning content for social media platforms.
  • Experience working in a marketing / communications team
  • Experience coordinating/managing multiple campaigns
  • Experience delegating work, setting deadlines and self managing your own workload
  • Detailed knowledge of digital marketing techniques and industry trends
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to deal with a diverse range of people.
  • But above all, passion to communicate our reemergence – as restrictions reduce on hosting live music and our bars, outlets and clubs and societies are allowed to do more, we want to make sure we get our message out louder and bolder than ever before!
