Midweight Copywriter

The words you choose say a lot about you. And that’s especially true of copywriters. But could you pick a favourite?

We’re looking for a versatile writer who loves big ideas as much as bitesize social copy. Someone with proven experience, who’s comfortable working on their own or teamed up with one of our smashing art directors. In return, we’ll let you loose on some fantastic brands, alongside some very talented people. Interested? Send us your CV and selected highlights from your portfolio too. And don’t forget your favourite word. It doesn’t have to be obscure. It could just be the way it trips off the tongue. Ideally, it will tell us just enough about you to pique our interest.

Key Accountabilities

  • Take briefs from the client services team, making sure you’ve got everything you need (and giving them a gentle nudge if you haven’t)
  • Work with an art director or designer to create fully-formed concepts, on brief and on time
  • Work with client services to put these concepts into presentation decks, including setting up the idea with a rationale that helps sell the work in
  • Present ideas to the client wherever possible, creating an engaging presentation and being ready to answer questions when called upon
  • Relish the challenge of writing compelling longer copy for blogs and online content
  • Love getting stuck into a pitch (and not mind burning a bit of midnight oil along the way)
  • Manage multiple projects at any one time, recording your time accurately as you go
  • Liaise with external suppliers like production companies
  • Brief freelancers on copy projects, giving quick introductions to client TOV where necessary
  • Be happy being based in our office in either Leeds or Sheffield (whatever suits you)
  • Win some awards

Skills Required

  • Proven experience in an agency role
  • Comfortable writing for all aspects of digital and social media
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Happy working alone or alongside an art director
  • Keen interest in the industry, including new trends and the latest (and best) work
  • A portfolio that shows a breadth of media and executional experience but always comes back to the most important thing: the idea
