Research Fellow: AI in Creative Media
The School of Digital Arts (SODA) is recruiting a Research Fellow who specialises in AI in Creative Media

The School is a pioneer in experimentation and creative learning and is now in the process of redesigning its Media provision in order to respond to industry needs.
The School of Digital Arts is Manchester Metropolitan’s response to and an investment in screen-based business and technologies. It will create a digital skills powerhouse that will host a diverse programme of degree apprenticeships, Continuing Professional Development, work-based training, undergraduate and postgraduate courses and resources. It will build on the award winning strengths of the Manchester School of Art, and bring together creative and craft disciplines, technical and scientific skills, industry partnerships and global research to train the next generation of talent, who will ensure that the UK continues to compete on an international scale.
The main purpose of this role is to lead in the development of quality research in the field of AI in creative media providing data science expertise and leadership on projects within a transdisciplinary team of researchers in SODA focused on the following fields:
- AI and storytelling
- Game engine cultures
- UX and multisensory experience
- Machine learning and bias
Projects may comprise involvement in creative design, software development, testing, preparing, conducting and recording the outcome of research, experiments and/or field work and analysing, interpreting, and disseminate findings to appropriate groups.
Lead in the development of new areas in the field of AI/machine learning (ML) and its application in creative media and to promote the wider work of the team and institution
