Midweight Conceptual Copywriter

What’s the best thing you’ve ever written? It might be a tweet. Or an article. It could be a passive-aggressive note you put on the fridge door that time your rhubarb yoghurts kept going missing from the communal kitchen.

Maybe it’s an ad. Have a think. Then send us the one bit of work that’s going to make us smile/cry/drop our sandwich. We’re looking for a versatile writer who loves big ideas as much as bitesize social copy. Someone who’s comfortable working on their own or teamed up with one of our smashing art directors. In return we’ll let you loose on some fantastic brands, alongside some very talented people. And ideally, in no time at all, the best thing you’ve ever written will be something you’ve written with us.

You will...

  • Take briefs from the client services team, making sure you’ve got everything you need (and giving them a gentle nudge if you haven’t)
  • Work with an art director or designer to create fully-formed concepts, on brief and on time
  • Work with client services to put these concepts into presentation decks, including setting up the idea with a rationale that helps sell the work in
  • Present ideas to client wherever possible, creating an engaging presentation and being ready to answer questions when called upon
  • Relish the challenge of writing compelling longer copy for blogs and online content
  • Love getting stuck into a pitch (and not mind burning a bit of midnight oil along the way)
  • Manage multiple projects at any one time, recording your time accurately as you go
  • Liaise with external suppliers like production companies
  • Brief freelancers on copy projects, giving quick introductions to client TOV where necessary
  • Be happy being based in our office in either Leeds or Sheffield (whatever suits you)
  • Win some awards

  • An outstanding writer, conceptually and technically [you know your ; from your :]
  • Experience in an agency role
  • Comfortable writing for all aspects of digital and social media
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Happy working alone or alongside an art director
  • Keen interest in the industry, including new trends and the latest (and best) work
  • A portfolio that shows a breadth of media and executional experience but always comes back to the most important thing: the idea

Interested? Send the best thing you’ve ever written (feel free to tell us why it’s your favourite) along with your CV to careers@jaywing.com
