As a media specialist with a fascination in all things video editing, TV production and sound recording, you’ve always enjoyed sharing your expert knowledge, and though you may not have qualified teachers status, you’ll love the idea of teaching and are excited at the prospect of sharing your love for all things media with eager new minds.
That’s why we’re looking for someone like you to join us here at Witherslack Group, to help us make a huge success of our latest exciting venture. As a leading provider of specialist education and care for children and young people with behavioural, emotional, communication and complex difficulties, we’re always striving for new ways to provide teaching in a stimulating and dynamic way.
With that in mind, we’ve created a brand-new state-of-the-art media bus to act as a travelling classroom. And we’re looking for a media specialist to work alongside our teachers and teaching assistants to work hands-on with the children and young people, guiding them through the tech. The bus is split into key areas and you’ll help with the creation of videos, radio programmes and their own music in its recording studio, all using brand new equipment. Going on the road across the North West, you’ll inspire our young people to do things that they didn’t think possible, filling them with as much enthusiasm and excitement as the bus itself.
The nature of what we do means that you’ll need to be as resilient as you are brilliant. So it’s all about balancing hardware and software knowledge with empathy and understanding. You’ll likely have a media degree and or will have worked in the industry after leaving university to get some real life experience under your belt. This will help you work with the teachers to prepare brilliant lessons and will also enable you to respond with calm and rationality when things you didn’t prepare for crop up. It takes real communication skills and the ability to connect with all kinds of people. We will provide training and extra support where required, especially with any bits of software or equipment you aren’t familiar with, but give it your all and you’ll be rewarded in more ways than one.
You’ll also need:
- Strong IT skills, with knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Serif programmes, Garageband, iMovie or other media-specific programmes
- Proven organisational skills
- A full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel right across the UK, including overnight stays occasionally
We know you’re going to do great things. So, we offer a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector:
- 35 days holidays
- Comprehensive induction
- Life insurance based on two times your annual base salary
- Health cash plan e.g. dental, optical and physiotherapy
- 24/7 counselling service
- Cycle to work
