Hyperlocal newspaper to be revived after buy-out
A hyperlocal newspaper in south Manchester is to resume publication after being bought by an independent publisher.
The Wythenshawe World was founded over 35 years ago by John Oatway but hasn't been printed for almost four months.
Now it has been acquired by M&Q Media – publisher of the Stockport Mail, Cheadle, Gatley & Cheadle Hulme Mail, Heald Green Mail and Bramhall Mail - for an undisclosed sum.
It is set to resume a fortnightly production schedule, with no jobs affected by the deal.
Previously, it distributed to over 27,000 homes and business in South Manchester.
Mike Sheils, M&Q Media’s managing director, said: “It is a delight to own such a well-established newspaper.
“John Oatway and his family created the Wythenshawe World over three decades ago and made it a hugely successful newspaper and we have no plans to change its format in any way.”
