The Wythenshawe World was founded over 35 years ago by John Oatway but hasn’t been printed for almost four months.

Now it has been acquired by M&Q Media – publisher of the Stockport Mail, Cheadle, Gatley & Cheadle Hulme Mail, Heald Green Mail and Bramhall Mail – for an undisclosed sum.

It is set to resume a fortnightly production schedule, with no jobs affected by the deal.

Previously, it distributed to over 27,000 homes and business in South Manchester.

Mike Sheils, M&Q Media’s managing director, said: “It is a delight to own such a well-established newspaper.

“John Oatway and his family created the Wythenshawe World over three decades ago and made it a hugely successful newspaper and we have no plans to change its format in any way.”
