Eighteen years of XFM radio came to an end last night as Global’s new Radio X brand was born.
The new station includes a largely new and high-profile line-up including Chris Moyles on breakfast, Vernon Kay in the mornings and Johnny Vaughan on afternoon drive-time.
Clint Boon saw out an emotional last XFM Manchester shift on Friday in the company of fellow Manchester music legend Shaun Ryder, who had been the first ever guest on the station.
Boon said he had recorded around 2,500 shows for the station over the past decade.
