The Oldham Evening Chronicle has launched a quarterly A4 business magazine aimed at local professionals.
Oldham Business Edge says it has the backing of a number of Oldham firms and wants to raise awareness of successes in the area to encourage investment and recruitment.
The magazine is being distributed to business and professional readers with an initial circulation of 2,500.
Chronicle editor David Whaley, business editor Robbie MacDonald and advertising manager Noel McLaughlin have been leading the project.
McLaughlin said: “The new magazine will offer a fantastic platform for business-to-business (B2B) organisations to deliver a positive message across the Oldham business community.”
MacDonald re-joined the Chronicle in March. He has worked across the north of England on newspapers including The Bolton News, Lancashire Evening Telegraph, Stockport Express, Warrington Guardian,Harrogate Advertiser, Darlington & Stockton Times and the Hexham Courant. He has had news, business and sub-editing roles and has also worked in commercial printing and PR.
A number of Oldham businesses are partnering the magazine and, in return, receiving a features and advertising package. They are also members of a magazine steering group. However magazine coverage is not restricted to partner-businesses. The print magazine is accompanied by digital activities and could develop further with events.
The first edition covers manufacturing, technology, property, sport-and-leisure, vocational education and housing.
There are also features on business patrons of the Oldham Coliseum Theatre, leisure
activities, the Oldham Business Awards, Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and northern devolution.
The Oldham Evening Chronicle is published daily from Monday to Friday by Hirst, Kidd and Rennie Limited. It also produces free monthly newspapers in Oldham, Saddleworth and Tameside, and a bi-monthly education supplement called The Knowledge.
