logo-1Shakespeare’s Globe has chosen York to host its annual networking event, Interface. The event will bring together the country’s top cultural brands to meet creatives, artists, agencies and developers from the digital industries at the end of June.

And the organisers are putting out a call for digital artists interested in creating a visual identity for the event to submit their ideas now.

Chief Executive, Shakespeare’s Globe Neil Constable, said” “York’s status as Unesco’s first UK City of Media Arts indicates the city’s commitment to developing digital and creative skills and encouraging business within the region. The digital community is thriving and we are delighted that Interface will act as a catalyst to partner that talent with UK’s leading Arts organisations.”

Shakespeare’s Globe selects venues outside London, tracking down hotbeds of creative talent.

The cultural partners attending Interface span the breadth of the creative industries including, theatre, publishing, galleries and dance. In previous years partners have included the BBC, Barbican, Channel 4, Glyndebourne, Imperial War Museums, National Theatre, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Rambert Dance Company, Royal Albert Hall, Royal Court, Penguin, Unicorn Theatre, Tate, the V&A as well as Shakespeare’s Globe itself.

The exact date and the venue are still to be announced.

Partners have two commitments, to have commissioning budgets for digital work in the coming year and that they will send a senior decision-maker or budget holder to Interface.

This ensures that young creative start-ups have a real opportunity to secure high profile commissions.

In advance of the event cultural partners specify areas of work that they will be seeking to commission over the coming year. The digital suppliers detail their specific capabilities. Potential cultural areas of work are cross-referenced with suppliers’ specialisms to create bespoke appointment schedules.

The meetings offer the rare opportunity for small and start-up creative companies to talk face-to-face with decision-makers at the country’s leading cultural organisations and the chance to secure valuable new business.

Details for the design work can be found at shakespearesglobe.com/interface.
