Mark Farrow will deliver the keynote speech for this year’s Design Manchester festival.

It will be a home-coming for the influential designer, who started out designing sleeves and posters for Factory Records and has since gone on to work with the likes of Pet Shop Boys and Spiritualized – including the band’s iconic Ladies and Gentlemen we are floating in space album.

The week-long event, which starts at the end of the month, has been curated by ambassador, Malcolm Garrett in collaboration with Manchester School of Art.

It features a Q&A at Manchester Town Hall, hosted by Professor David Crow as well as appearances from Studio Moross’ Kate Moross; Andrew Shoben of greyworld, who’s also the co-founder of the 5D Institute at the University of Southern California; and RSA co-directors, Nat Hunter and Sophie Thomas.

Events will include a “creative brief-in” for students and recent graduates; and a series of industry-led talks and workshops about technology and UX+D with magneticNorth and the BBC.

Design Manchester runs from 28th October to 1st November.
