Bird has been brought in to handle the PR for Spin – The Cycling Festival, which comes to Manchester for the first time in May.

The Manchester agency will be working alongside the organisers, Mercury Events, to promote the event, which takes place at the Victoria Warehouse in Stretford.

“This is the first time we have taken SPIN outside London so it was important for us to engage a local agency who knows the city and its residents well,” said Alex Daw, show director for Mercury Events.

“Manchester is amongst the world leading cities for cycling, and is a vibrant, cultural destination so it is a perfect fit for the show.  SPIN will showcase the most progressive international traders along with art installations, cyclic experiences, music and food, sharpening the focus on the urban cycling scene, road cycling and what’s new to 2016.  Bird will help us reach out to our target audiences across the region.”

More than 100 exhibitors are expected to be at the show, which will have test tracks, frame building and bike film premieres.

“At Bird we love cycling.  Through our work with Sports Tours International brands Club La Santa UK, Wheel2Wheel and Freewheel we really understand the sector and what motivates the Mancunian cyclist,” added Bird chief executive, Chris Bird.

“Manchester is the home of British Cycling and more and more Mancunians are getting the bike bug.  It’s great to have a weekend like this to meet like-minded people face-to-face and share our love of the sport.”
