York Mailing Group has brought the Otley-based agency Go Direct Marketing (GDM) in a deal which marks the second acquisition in a year for the company which specialises in flyers and printed inserts.

YMG generates revenues of £110m per year and the enlarged business employs 530 staff across four sites following its acquisition last year of rival The Lettershop Group (TLG).

Elvington-based YMG has established a market-leading position in print for the retail sector including flyers, leaflets and catalogues for clients including Lidl, Tesco, Marks & Spencer and Boden.

GDM has a strong background in mail order, retail marketing strategy and data analysis. Clients include Pure Collection, Cox & Cox, Wrap, Thompson & Morgan, The Handpicked Collection, French Connection & Brook Taverner and the business employs 10 staff.

This latest acquisition will enable YMG to develop a new data driven analytics division, strengthening the group’s offering to its customers across TLG as well as Pindar and York Mailing. In turn, the acquisition will enable GDM to expand its core business to a wider client base.

YMG received a £10m investment from the Business Growth Fund last year and used that money to fund the acquisition of TLG, which was founded in 1886 with a range of marketing services including data analytics, marketing strategy and digital media for customers include Sky, Marks & Spencer and Tesco.
