Playnation, the Runcorn-based supplier of amusement and entertainment machines, has appointed MC2 to handle its media relations and social media.

Playnation currently supplies holiday parks, motorway services, bowling centres and airports including Butlins, Park Resorts, Roadchef and Welcome Break.

It was founded earlier this year after Palatine Private Equity backed the management buyout of the amusement and gaming division of Inspired Gaming.

MC2 LogoMC2, which is also the retained PR adviser to Palatine, already works with SG Gaming and SecureTrading. The agency will now manage Playnation’s corporate and trade media relations, including raising the profile of the company among the leisure and entertainment sector.

Playnation’s social media, also managed by MC2, will target existing and potential customers.

Claire Tennant, managing director at MC2, said: “The management team at Playnation have ambitious plans for the business following the MBO. Operating in the family entertainment sector, they need to communicate clearly via a number of channels. Our campaign uses an integrated approach, with traditional media relations alongside social media, to engage with key decision makers in the sector.”

Playnation chief executive Adam Hodges added: “We were impressed by MC2’s grasp of our business and the sector we operate in. With their experience of working with entrepreneurial businesses and implementing social and integrated media campaigns, we’re confident MC2 is the perfect strategic partner as we look to grow the business.”
