Manchester agency Havas PR has been appointed by retailer Maplin Electronics.
Its brief includes responsibility for Maplin’s national and regional press offices, local marketing for all new and refurbished stores and a Christmas-focused product placement campaign.
Originally established as a small mail order business in 1972, Maplin now has 200 stores across the UK.
Marketing director Breffni Walsh said: “These are very exciting times for Maplin and we are delighted to have Havas as our PR partner. Their proposal showed that they really understood our business and our customers.”
The account will be serviced out of Havas PR’s Manchester office and will be headed up by managing director, Brian Beech.
He said: “Maplin is a fantastic account to work on and the team are very excited about it.”
Havas has won other recent briefs for Wren Kitchens, Ideal Standard and Rohan.
