Developing a small business often starts with just one idea. To keep growing, though, you need to find ways of continuing to add, test, and explore new ideas. Manchester Metropolitan University’s SMART Cheshire Innovation Challenge focuses on the innovation process for small business owners – how to go from an inkling of an idea to launch. It’s a two-phase programme, giving you time to explore your idea, and then delve deeper into how to create and launch your prototype. Some of the small business owners we’ve worked with? A printing company that developed an online portal to allow customers to place repeat orders quickly and easily. A chocolatier who spotted a gap in the market and, alongside her chocolate business, now supplies ethically soured ingredients to B2B customers. A florist with years of experience who saw an opportunity for locally grown flowers, as a result of Brexit.
