Media Yorkshire is to host an investment tour for London-based startups in a move to attract fresh talent to the region.
The trade association for the creative, media and digital sector is bringing the 10 startups to Leeds on March 8th and 9th.
The two-day tour will include a visit to the co-working space at Leeds Dock, as well as visiting established tech firms such as aql and Sky. Estate agents, Parklane, will also be showing the firms a variety of residential accommodation.
Stuart Clarke, director of Media Yorkshire, said: “In London, founders of startups often find it easier to access financial and operational support. However, the costs of growing a startup in London are forcing many startups to look outside the city as increasing office and accommodation costs, plus the higher salaries of additional staff, are making it difficult for them to expand.
“This project aims to attract new businesses to Leeds and add to the 3500 digital firms already in the city.”
The tour will be hosted by Media Yorkshire, Leeds City Council and Leeds Dock. Further information can be found here.
