Matmi in Cheshire has created a festive gaming app for the National Union of Students’ discount card provider, NUS extra.

Launched today, it’s the first game that the organisation has commissioned.

“Think Angry Birds but with sprouts,” said Alex Butcher, marketing manager for NUS extra.

“[It] is part of our wider on-going work to further engage with students. We’re so excited to share it with you all as a fun, festive and free gift this Christmas. Whilst we are a student focused organisation this game is free for everyone to download, and we hope that it brings everyone a bit of extra joy this December.”

Festive Frenzy is a collection of 8 games, complete with sprouts, a holiday narwhal and a bad dancing dad. It’s available for Apple, Windows and Android devices.

Matmi regularly tops the games charts at Christmas with titles like Yo Ho Ho Yellow Snow and Santa Farty Pants.

“We’re really pleased to be working with the NUS as most of us were students at one time. We’re well known for creating Christmas games so it’s great to be creating one for such a fantastic client,” said Jeff Coghlan, CEO of Matmi.

“We took our inspiration of these games from our love of 1950’s retro cartoons. We class them as ‘mini munchable micro games’ that are quick and easy to play, delivering little bundles of Christmas joy across multiple platforms.”
