Carter completes management buy-out of Manchester’s Ixis

Technical director Mike Carter has assumed full ownership of Manchester digital agency Ixis following the departure of co-founder Chris Haslam.

The duo founded Ixis – which specialises in consultancy, development, support and hosting for websites using the open source Drupal content management framework – in 2004.

Since then it has won a number of long-standing contracts with organisations including Haringey Council, British Council, City of Westminster Council and Blue Prism.

Carter said: “The completion of the management buyout is another exciting chapter in the history of the company. In the 12 years since founding the business with Chris, we have remained focused on delivering high quality Drupal services to organisations that can depend on our expertise and reliability.

“This will always remain at the heart of the services we provide and I am looking forward to continuing to build great relationships with a wide range of organisations who trust Ixis when it comes to helping them deliver operationally critical websites and web infrastructure.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Chris for leading the business over the last decade and I wish him well in his next venture.”

Haslam, who was MD, added: “I’m incredibly proud of the company Mike and I founded. We’ve had some great achievements over recent years, including being recognised by the Cabinet Office for our innovative and open source work in the public sector.

“Ixis often competes with companies much larger than itself which is a testament to the strength of the team, and I wish them all the best for the future.”

The management buyout was completed by Bermans and Aaron & Partners, with Venture 9 and Mattocks Grindley acting in an advisory capacity.
