Bliss has created a global Facebook app to help international students find out more about studying in the UK.

The Manchester agency was working on behalf of the British Council’s Education UK operation, which offers advice and information to 2.2m potential international students every year through its website.

“Each year, over 400,000 international students come to the UK to study at a university or college for their higher education, and a further 600,000 international students come to do a short English language course,” said Rachel Newton, digital communications manager at the British Council.

“For these international students, coming to the UK is really exciting – but it can be a little daunting too, trying to work out what to study, how to apply, how to find accommodation etc. We offer lots of advice on the Education UK website, but we wanted to give students additional support and answer their personal questions.”

The Q&A App enables students to browse questions by subject, their home country or popularity or they can put their own questions to a panel of experts or share their own experiences.

“With a global audience the key to this app was clarity and simplicity. The intuitive functionality of the app saves us time, as students are presented with similar questions and encouraged to search for questions that have already been asked,” continued Newton.

“Another benefit is that it lets students connect with other international students who are in the same position as them. From the very start of the project, Bliss demonstrated a very clear understanding of this requirement and the end result certainly delivers.”

The project was funded through the Government’s GREAT campaign.
