Newcastle music app launched for sharing playlists at a location
A north east apps company has come up with a way to do just that. Playlisting platform Playlists.net has been rebuilt and includes an app built in Newcastle by Fluid Pixel, which allows users to upload playlists and artwork, as well as pin playlists to a certain location.
Users can make a Spotify playlist that suits a particular location, and share it with people who turn up at that spot in the future.
In response to an email from Techcrunch, Playlists.net founder and CEO Kieron Donoghue explains how the service works using the geo-location service Foursquare’s API.
“So when you’re using the app you select a playlist then select “Pin” which then brings up a list of nearby locations (we use the Foursquare API for this) and you can choose to allocate a playlist to that location.”
Tech news site Betarocket described the new development as “a hugely interesting feature.
“It’s something that we’d definitely love to see pop up all over cities in the North East and beyond”.
