Playdemic appoints games industry legend Livingstone as chairman

Wilmslow-based Playdemic has appointed Ian Livingstone CBE, the co-founder of Warhammer and man behind Tomb Raider and Hitman as its chairman.

The company develops social games for Facebook and Apple devices, including Village Life and Kingdom Quest and Cheshire-born Livingstone said he was “delighted” to be part of a “hidden UK success story”:

“The boom in social gaming represents an incredible opportunity for talented game studios like Playdemic. Millions of people are playing games on their smart phones and Facebook,” he stated.

“Playdemic is a hidden UK success story; first with Gourmet Ranch on Facebook in 2010, and more recently with the hugely successful launch of Village Life. I am delighted to be appointed Chairman of the company, and look forward to working with the team to drive further growth on Facebook, and helping to leverage the studio’s content across mobile platforms.”

Livingstone co-wrote the Fighting Fantasy role playing game book series and during his time at Eidos, the company produced some of its biggest titles, including Hitman and Tomb Raider. Livingstone remains Eidos Life President.
