BECTU and PACT sign TV drama agreement
A new agreement has been signed covering staff working across television dramas and comedies.
It comes following negotiations between the union, Bectu and independent production organisation, PACT.
Last month, Bectu members were balloted on the terms, with 97.4% of respondents endorsing it.
“The union is very pleased with the ringing endorsement that our members have given to our negotiators. We believe that this agreement is a step in the right direction. It represents improvements in the terms and conditions that our members work under, and it creates a standard of consistency that helps everyone in the industry,” explained Head of BECTU, Gerry Morrissey.
It will mean that crew engaged on a TV drama will have a full statement of their terms and conditions at the start of their employments. This will include pay rates, hours and planned locations.
A weekly rate will be replaced by a daily rate and there will be a restriction on the number of 6-day weeks in a worker’s shooting schedule, along with a £100 penalty each time this cap is broken.
