ITV Daytime commissions The Speakmans

ITV has commissioned a 20x60minute series following Manchester-based celebrity therapists, Nik and Eva Speakman.

The Speakmans will follow the pair as they attempt to treat “ordinary people with extraordinary problems.”

It will be made by ITV Studios Entertainment and series produced by Tracey Moore at MediaCityUK.

The shows will see if the Speakmans can succeed where counsellors, doctors and other therapists have failed, as they’re faced with conditions ranging from Agoraphobia to post traumatic stress.

It is one of 2 commissions from ITV Daytime. The other is Who’s Doing the Dishes, which will be presented by Brian Mcfadden.

Mcfadden is proving popular with ITV Studios as he’s also hosting the company’s Stand By Your Man dating show for Channel 5, which is being shot at MediaCityUK.

This latest 30×60 minute series appears like a mixture of Come Dine With Me and Through the Keyhole, with 4 diners having to guess which celebrity’s house they’re in.

The show will see the celebrity making their favourite food as their guests go snooping around the house to work out their identity. A cash prize if they get it right, the washing up if they get it wrong.

The series producer is Jon Durbridge.

“We have some exciting new formats in the pipeline for ITV Daytime during 2014 and I’m delighted to have these two new commissions amongst them,” said ITV director of daytime, Helen Warner.

“They promise to be entertaining, appointment to view series that I hope our viewers will enjoy.”
