CBBC to visit North East school for new documentary series

CBBC will visit a school near Middlesbrough for a brand new fly-on-the-wall documentary series, Our School.

The 15x28min series will follow the ups and downs of a group of young people as they make the move between primary and secondary school.

According to the Evening Gazette, 15 youngsters from various schools in Teesside will be followed as they start Year 7 at Conyers School in Yarm.

The series will take in everything from the first walk to school, the new form class and their first steps out into the playground.

Kez Margrie, CBBC’s executive producer, said: “The move from primary to secondary school is something that we know our audience thinks and worries about.

“We all remember how it feels to be thrown into this big new world and we wanted to reflect that back at our audience, to show that they are not alone in how they feel and to let them know that it’s not as scary as they think. We’re looking forward to seeing the real-life stories the series uncovers.”

Our School is produced by Twofour for CBBC and will air later this year. Rachel Innes-Lumsden is executive producer for Twofour, with Richard Marson series producing and Steve Grogan as series director. Kez Margrie is executive producer for CBBC.

Channel 4 last year enjoyed huge success with its documentary based on a Dewsbury secondary school, Educating Yorkshire.
