4 O’Clock Club to get iPlayer premiere

608-1CBBC’s 4 O’Clock Club is to premiere on BBC iPlayer with fans able to watch the show a week before it’s aired, it has been announced today.

Starting from episode two on 26 December and continuing throughout the series the award-winning comedy drama series becomes part of the BBC Trust’s approved BBC iPlayer trial to premiere up to 40 hours of programmes across the service, exploring the role of online premiering across a range of genres and channels.

4 O’Clock Club is produced in Salford and has a mix of funny characters and school-based adventures and mishaps – all punctuated with the stylish raps from Ben ‘Doc Brown’ Smith and Mikis Michaelides.

cbbcVictoria Jaye, Head of TV Content for BBC iPlayer, said 4 O’Clock Club will be the first children’s series to premiere on BBC iPlayer.

“As an established comedy drama in the CBBC schedule, the iPlayer premiere will give fans the chance to enjoy their favourite programme whenever and wherever they want to.

“Over the last year, we’ve seen a 63 per cent growth in consumption of Children’s content on iPlayer, which demonstrates iPlayer’s important role as a complementary discovery platform for our broadcast programmes.”
