Red Production Company has starting shooting the new John Simm-led thriller, Prey, for ITV1.
The cast includes Rosie Cavaliero, currently starring in Cabbage & Pat, Craig Parkinson (The Mill), Ade Edmondson (Bottom) and Charlie Concannon (Moving On).
The 3-part drama was commissioned this summer, with Simm taking the lead role of DC Marcus Farrow, a police officer found at the scene of a brutal crime. Arrested and charged by the police, he gets the opportunity to escape and takes it, going on the run in Manchester.
Det Sgt Susan Reinhardt (Cavaliero) has been brought in by ACC Warner (Edmondson) to track him down.
It’s been written by newcomer, Chris Lunt, directed by Nick Murphy (The Awakening) and produced by Tom Sherry (Scott & Bailey). Red’s Nicola Shindler will exec produce.
“Chris Lunt is a very talented writer and we are delighted to have his debut serial on ITV,” said Steve November, ITV’s Director of Drama, who commissioned the series.
“He has created extremely vivid characters in Prey and we are very excited to have John Simm in the lead role.”
The 3×60 minute thriller is slated for TX next year.
