MIDAS launches Manchester Animation Festival
Local companies will get priority booking for the event before general registration opens from Monday (30th September).
The 3 day conference is intended to help companies see the opportunities that exist in animation and enable them to compete on a global scale.
The first takes place on Thursday 31st October, with a look at the UK children's market, featuring an overview from Joe Goodwin, director, BBC Children’s. A month later there will be Going Global about taking animation overseas, looking at co-productions, funding and potential tax breaks.
The final event on 12th December is entitled New Players, New Perspectives and will investigate the alternative sources of distribution and funding.
“The Manimation Festival is an exciting new event for Greater Manchester’s creative community which will offer the chance to attend workshops aimed at addressing their business development needs and matching them to global opportunities within the supply-chain,” explained Tim Newns, chief executive of MIDAS.
“This event will further market awareness and intelligence about this specialist sub-sector and it will help to ensure that Manchester’s SMEs can develop strategies for long term growth, provide them with a competitive advantage and give them the chance to network with key industry players.
