In other changes to the weekend sports schedule, Georgie Bingham joins former Newcastle footballer Micky Quinn as the new host of Weekend Sports Breakfast, from 7 until 11 every Saturday and Sunday morning.

On weekdays, Colin Murray’s new three-hour show will see him joined by different guests each day, including former Liverpool footballers Did Hamann and Danny Murphy on Wednesdays and Thursdays respectively.

talkSPORT programme director, Liam Fisher, said: “Undoubtedly the upcoming Premier League season promises to be one of the most exciting ever and our football rights allied with the best line-up the station has ever had means we are the number one destination for sports fans.

“The new additions to the talkSPORT squad give listeners superb insight, analysis and entertainment to help build on the station’s highest ever listening figures.”

As previously revealed, Richard Keys and Andy Gray will start their new Friday evening show this week, while Max Rushden will host ‘The Warm-up’ on Sundays.

talkSPORT is owned by UTV Media, which has its UK headquarters in Cheshire.

In other news, talkSPORT has signed a six-figure deal with Vauxhall to sponsor all of the station’s home nations football coverage until the end of October.
