We are pleased to announce the conference line-up for Educate the North on Wednesday 3 June.
This unique conference, which complements the evening’s Educate the North Awards, has brought together a number of outstanding speakers from across the UK who will be sharing their thoughts and experiences of working in and with the HE and FE sectors in the North – and beyond.
The awards will be presented at a black tie dinner in Manchester on 3 June 2015 that will showcase the world-class status of many of the North’s leading academic institutions.
The conference during the day will be of huge interest to academics and academic staff, providers of professional and financial services, business people seeking to engage with education and public bodies with a keen interest in seeing the broader value of education fully recognised.
The HE and FE sector in the North is worth tens of billions of pounds to the economy and Educate the North is the first ever conference to specifically address this issue at a time when the whole concept of a ‘Northern Powerhouse’ is taking shape.
Educate the North aims to celebrate the success and growth of the knowledge sector across the North of England. The sector includes 33 universities and a series of leading arts, music, legal, teaching and other higher educational institutions and we are delighted that The Telegraph Media Group has agreed to partner the initiative.
We are also delighted that the School of Management at the University of Liverpool has agreed to pull together a wide variety of research data specifically for the conference looking at financial and commercial data relating to:
- Capex of the North’s Unis, HE and FE colleges
- Income generated from industry/private sector
- Total value of research grants per institution
- Assets/balance sheets of individual/collective institutions

MORNING SESSION
The morning session of Educate the North will focus on the sheer size and scale of the HE and FE sector in the North and will draw upon several speakers who will illustrate this scale and also address some of the financial and commercial realities the sector faces in the coming years.
