Prolific North Live: Speakers confirmed for Storytelling & Innovation Theatre

We can today reveal some of the leading industry figures who are now confirmed as speakers for the Storytelling & Innovation Theatre at Prolific North Live, sponsored by Parker Software.

The Storytelling & Innovation Theatre, part of the two-day expo being held at EventCity in Trafford Park on February 15th and 16th 2017, will feature talks and workshops focused on the art of storytelling across the creative industries and beyond.

The expo has already attracted over 3,000 attendees with over 100 companies and organisations now signed up to exhibit.

Channel 4The LandingSteamhaus and Vision One are on board as event partners, with other room sponsors including Parker Software and the CIPR.

Broadcast, the UK’s leading national broadcast media platform and its sister operation, the Media Production Show, has announced some of the keynote speakers who will take part in two full days of outstanding speakers and great content as part of the Broadcast and Visual Media Theatre.

Here is more information about the speakers confirmed for the Storytelling & Innovation Theatre:

Martin Bryant, Commuity Editor, Tech North
Martin is Community Editor at Tech North, where he tells the story of technology in the North of England. He uncovers world-class companies, people and initiatives that often fly under the radar of major tech publications. Martin was previously Editor-at-Large at The Next Web and is a regular fixture on technology conference stages in Europe and the USA. He often appears on national and international TV and radio programmes to talk about technology.

Dr Robin Bargar, University of Salford
Dr Bargar has a creative and research background in computer music and sound synthesis, interactive media and virtual reality, including software development and systems integration for cross-media applications.

In 2015, he joined University of Salford as founding Executive Director of the Studio for International Media & Technology at MediaCityUK, with a joint appointment as Professor in the School of Arts and Media and the School of Computing Sciences and Engineering. He leads the University’s Digital and Creative Industry Collaboration Zone to develop industry partnerships and projects and new curriculum with interdisciplinary teams across the university.

David Edmundson Bird, Principal Lecturer in Digital Marketing and Enterprise, MMU
David is Principal Lecturer in Digital Marketing & Enterprise at Manchester Metropolitan University, where he runs a number of digital communications programmes, and he also the Associate Director for Digital Innovation.

He is Course Leader for Manchester Met’s new full-time MSc Digital Marketing Communications, as well as the new MBA in Digital Management.

David founded MMU’s Agency Life programme 5 years ago to enable students experience live work skills in the workplace very early in their course. He has enjoyed several spells in academia as well as senior management roles in the digital sector, and even helped to set up Manchester’s second web design agency back in 1995.

Anthony Diver, Managing and Creative Director, Mosquito
Anthony has over 18 years’ hands-on experience in the digital and creative sectors heading creative, strategic and technical roles holistically. He co-founded Mosquito in 2010 with a new approach to brand communication by fusing both the digital and creative sectors. Coupled with strategic marketing know-how, Mosquito has been recognised in 45+ national and international industry awards within the last five years.

Along with a seven-year stint in the music industry, Anthony has helped springboard many brands and product, from small start-ups to national and international brands with infectious results. From a #1 globally ranked mobile app to digital transformation within marketing, learning and publishing sectors, he has directed, developed and produced a wealth of digital solutions for clients across mobile, social and the web to niche platforms including iBeacons and games consoles.

Jon Cornwell and Bevan Thomas, CEO and Commercial Director, Founders of NewsFlare
Jon (pictured) co-founded Newsflare alongside Bevan Thomas in April 2011. Throughout his career Jon has focussed on building great teams with diverse skillsets as well as using data to drive business decisions.

Bevan co-founded Newsflare alongside Jon Cornwell in April 2011. Prior to Newsflare Bevan had a successful career in publishing and media, and boasts an impressive global network of senior decision makers in the broadcasting and publishing sectors.

Tash Willcocks, Programme Leader, Hyper Island
Tash has 20 years of experience shaping future changemakers in the creative industry. She was previously programme leader of the BA and MA Graphic Design course at Salford University, and now facilitates the learning of worldwide postgraduate students that join the MA Digital Management and MA Digital Experience Design programmes at Hyper Island.

Parallel to disrupting design education, she has acted as an album creative for the band Elbow, and carried out Skateboard design collaborations with Linder Sterling. Her popular daily typographic project, ‘Mundaneaday’, is now it its fifth year, and its demand has expanded her portfolio to include the commission of large scale hand-lettered murals in studios around UK. She recently built up MapMyMCR, a growing map of illustrated buildings and their narratives which is being developed to incorporate additional cities.

Collaborations are a core feature in her working, and being part of Generic Greeting and BLAB helps enable this to grow. Having Cornish roots she’s a friendly little creature and is usually happy to be seen talking design on stage (at the bar) or featuring in exhibitions that aim to make the world a little bit brighter.

Ken Leren, Founder, Tech Essence
Ken Leren is passionate about – and has extensive technological expertise – in all things digital. Over the last decade, he has worked across multichannel marketing campaigns, bringing in-depth experience in lead generation and performance marketing strategies. Having identified a gap in the market for performance management software, he founded Tech Essence and launched Marketing Town, a campaign management, tracking and analytics platform, to help businesses realise digital potential through innovative use of technology.
