A Manchester native has been named in the newly created role of global chief digital officer at gyro.

Liam Blackwell will oversee the development and “fluency” of gyro’s digital products and services across its 16 offices worldwide.

Interprise, where Blackwell was US president, was successfully integrated into gyro following the agency’s acquisition by DAN in July 2016.

Before joining DAN, Blackwell helped launch and grow The Register, which grew to become one of the world’s largest enterprise technology news sites. Prior to that, he led international digital sales at Nielsen-owned VNU Business Publications.

Christoph Becker, gyro global CEO and CCO, said: “Liam’s knowledge of the precision that media and technology brings to B2B is truly something special. gyro now possesses a unique offering that brings together content and context, as well as precision and feeling, to ignite business minds and hearts with humanly relevant ideas.”

Blackwell said: “There has been an absolute explosion of data-driven, digital offerings for B2B marketers looking to understand and target customers in the most effective manner possible. At the same time, Dentsu Aegis Network’s specialist agencies are collaborating to create groundbreaking digital products and services.

“By combining these with the ability to create powerful humanly relevant B2B ideas, gyro offers something unique, powerful and crucial to the marketplace. Everyone involved is excited by the possibilities.”

A native of Manchester, Blackwell has lived in San Francisco for more than a decade and will be based in gyro San Francisco.
