Manchester tech entrepreneur Scott Fletcher has acquired a 50% stake in a Warrington cyber security company.

Fletcher, the founder of £63million-turnover ANS Group, has invested in Cyber X, which supplies customers with a free, automated assessment of their best security options.

He has bought the equity previously held by Energize Capital to provide funding support for Cyber X, which was founded in 2016 by Ben Swindlehurst.

Fletcher said: “The decision to get involved with Ben and the team was an easy one for me. Cyber security is a growing sector and is not going to go away.

“The platform which has been designed and created by Cyber X is perfectly placed to support the SME market and offers businesses easy to understand solutions in an otherwise confusing market place.”

Swindlehurst added: “We recognise that cybercrime is a worldwide epidemic and is largely indiscriminate. If there is a weakness in a system, it can be exploited.

“We are thrilled to welcome Scott on board and look forward to working closely with him. We are confident that with his experience we can enjoy continued growth as we endeavour to take Cyber X to the next level.”

ANS Group, which employs 290 staff, acquired cloud transformation and app development specialist Webantic in December.
