Liverpool-based men’s lifestyle title The Essential Journal has recruited Laura Jones as editor-in-chief.
The former PR manager will now oversee all content for the free distributed tabloid, as well as heading up content, strategy and direction for all publications under Singleton Publishing.
Jones, from Chester, trained in fashion journalism in London, going on to work for a number of publications and stylists, before retraining as a news journalist and broadcaster in the North West and working for NWN Media and the BBC.
After moving into PR, she worked with clients including Liverpool ONE, Titanic Hotel Liverpool, Muse Developments and Unilever.
She said: “With so many plans for the expansion of The Essential Journal into new and exciting territories over the next 12 months and with new clients coming on weekly for Singleton Publishing, it’s a very exciting time to join the team.”
Headed by brothers Richard and Tom Singleton, The Essential Journal is now into its 12th issue, with advertisers including Rolex, Jaguar Hatfield and Camp and Furnace.
It is now planning to expand The Essential Journal into Manchester later this month, with Edinburgh, Birmingham and London to follow.
Co-Founder Richard Singleton said: “Laura has great credentials and we know she’ll be a real asset to the team as we expand over the coming year.”
