UTV Media has promoted Michael Dobson, the former station director at The Pulse in Bradford, to the role of ILR group sales director.

He’ll now work across the company’s 13 local radio stations including Signal Radio in Stoke, The Wave and Juice FM in Liverpool.

“I’m thrilled to be taking on this challenge and helping the local teams build on their current success. It’s a very exciting time for commercial radio and the great performance last year across the UTV group gives us a solid foundation to build on,” he said.

Dobson has previously worked at Metro Radio Group and Emap, joining UTV in 2011.

“Our stations are going from strength to strength and Michael has proved himself to be the perfect choice for this role with his work across the stations. I look forward to continuing to work with him as we build our business and congratulate him on the new position,” added Iain Fowler, UTV Media (GB), director of local radio.

His predecessor, Julian Carter moves to the North East to join UKRD as managing director of Sun FM in Sunderland:

“With my family based in the north east and this opportunity available to me, it was just a great chance to make the move. I have enjoyed my careers at each of the places I have worked and I’m looking forward to working on the next chapter with the UKRD team very much. The group has a reputation for great commitment to its teams and people and I’m keen to be a part of it all,” said Carter.
