This post offers a unique opportunity for the right person to lead communications for the Core Cities, one of England’s most influential policy groups who are shaping the national agenda for major cities at a moment of significant change.
Working to the Director of Core Cities and the priorities set by the Core Cities Cabinet, you will be a motivated and accomplished communications professional with significant experience balancing competing priorities, completing complex tasks to deadlines, but also able to identify and assess future opportunities.
Your excellent communication skills will have been honed in a similar fast-paced environment alongside the ability to form and maintain a large number of professional relationships, whilst communicating complex messages to multiple audiences through multiple media platforms.
As the first Core Cities Head of Communications, you will lead the development of this function to a new level for the group, broadening and deepening their communications impacts within existing resource constraints. Working within a small but highly motivated team, and as the only communications post, you will be required to contribute to the core tasks of the group but will also have the opportunity to shape overall strategy and policy.
The group’s work focuses on devolution, economic and social policy, encompasses local and national government and Whitehall and the private sector as primary stakeholders and audiences. Interest and experience in one or more of these areas would be a distinct advantage.
The post is offered initially as a two year contract and secondments will be considered. It will be Manchester based with some national travel.
2 year fixed term contract
