Responsible to: Head of Photographic
External relationships: Clients, freelancers, suppliers if outsourcing is required.
Internal relationships: Studio team, Photographic Team, Digital Team, Client Services Team, Directors.
Hours: Mon ­ Fri 9am ­ 5:30pm (flexible hours required)
Candidates must have strong experience in Homeware, Lifestyle, Food and Fashion
Main duties and responsibilities:
● Brief and Support the photographic studio teams on all directions
● Contribute to managing the finance and invoices for Creative shoots
● Providing leadership and direction to Creative team supporting and communicating at all time
● Accurately following detailed client briefs and Style Guides to ensure the product is shot consistently
● Communicate any issues to the Line Manager and seek advice and help to resolve them
● Train and mentor members on all levels when required
● Strong and confident in directing models
● Take an active interest in brand development for Fashion and Still Life
● Take ownership of key accounts when required – working closely with both internal and external teams to ensure a smooth shoot
● Work with Line Manager to continuously try and find ways to streamline the process and ensure quality is maintained
● Manage client style guides with any amends, and communicating back to the team accordingly
● Quality control all ecomm imagery, with the entire package (still life, fashion and swatches)
● Quality control on repro amends using a colour coordinated system on all ecomm imagery
● Communicate the daily issues list from clients with the digital team only
● Support in assigning and allocate work to team appropriately
● Supporting the Creative Director in conceptual thinking and generating creative direction
● Designing presentations and pitches to deliver these concepts to client briefs
● Location sourcing and work with production to help create photoshoots/set build
● Decision maker on props, styling, make­up options ready to brief teams
● Update style guides and model books for all clients
● Recce locations for creative concepts
● ‘After­care’ of photoshoots – image selecting, processing/filing/moodboard design/documentation
● Attend Client meetings and pitching ideas
● Shoot planning and logistics – designing documents on what is the most cost effective way to create/produce and deliver and shoot
● Encourage junior members of the department on where they need to improve or pass knowledge to help them develop their skills
● Give feedback and critique work that the photographic team have created
● Quality control and approve all photographic imagery generated by the department
Knowledge and Skills required:
● 8+ years experience
● Strong portfolio in Homeware and Lifestyle concepts / Campaigns
● A strong branding knowledge and commercial understanding of Homeware and Lifestyle
● A strong understanding and passion in retail awareness
● Excellent organisational and time management skills
● Entrepreneurial and innovative in looking at new ways of working
● Have and keep a firm understanding of current and upcoming trends and how they relate to our client needs
● Strong Multi­Channel Awareness
● Ability to support with and develop studio systems and processes
● A good understanding of what it takes to maintain and develop a productive studio
● Must be comfortable working towards defined Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) from clients
● Design skills ­ Including drawing / Sketching, typography, colour theory, texture, spacing, visual presentation
● Studio and Photographic lighting knowledge
● Video editing knowledge including visualisation
● Flexible approach to meet business needs
● Strong listening and questioning skills
● A sense of leadership for a team
● Exceptional eye for detail ­ Including quality of images and design layout
● Strong client facing
● Confident in presenting ideas
● Calm under pressure and under tight timeframes
● Excellent team decision making
● Quick thinking and adaptable to any photographic situation
● Ability to prioritise workflow
● Adapt in a fashion paced environment
Technical skills needed/essential:
● Adobe Indesign ● Adobe Photoshop ● Capture one
Technical skills desirable:
● Premier ● Final cut ● HTML ● CSS
