Contract Type:

Bitesize is the home for BBC Learning’s formal education output. The Bitesize team produces innovative and engaging digital content which is used by 82% of secondary age students. We now plan to reach and engage new audiences by making Learning Zone content available on YouTube – a platform used by many teachers to access educational material.

BBC Learning is part of BBC Television and works to magnify the learning potential of the biggest BBC brands. Our digital products reach a combined audience of 5 million people a week. We value ambition, collaboration, high performance and risk-taking. Our mission is to transform lives through education.

Role Responsibility

This is rare chance to be at the forefront of the new Bitesize YouTube channel, overseeing the creation, launch and operation of this exciting new proposition. You’ll be setting up and managing the YouTube team, and leading on the creative scheduling of imaginative content on the channel.

You’ll build relationships with other YouTube producers across the BBC to keep across best practice and new innovations, and use promotion tools to drive onward journeys from YouTube to BBC platforms. You’ll also be working with Bitesize Editors and Producers to develop social experiences, having researched what content works best on social platforms as part of the role.

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll need to be able to demonstrate your interest in education content and be full of ideas on how Bitesize can best utilise YouTube to reach new audiences. Of course you’ll be a YouTube expert, and you’ll have an understanding of other social video platforms like Vine and Periscope and how they can be used to engage audiences.

Combined with that, you’ll have strong people management and communication skills and the ability to lead a team. You’ll be experienced at managing external relationships and delivering outstanding digital content on time and within budget. You’ll have excellent project management skills and substantial editorial experience.
