The Together Trust is a charity that provides a range of social care, special education, community support and consultancy services in the North West of England.
We are one of the North West’s largest providers of residential homes for children from short-term emergency care to long-term placements. Our fostering service provides family placements in the North West and neighbouring regions. We provide some of the leading specialist education services in the North West, operating a range of special schools, a further education college and centres supporting those who cannot attend mainstream schools. In addition we offer a wide range of training, consultancy and support services for parents and carers.
Following recent changes within the Cheadle-based Communications and Marketing team, we have been able to create a new role for a dynamic Press and PR officer to come and join us, where you will help proactively generate high-profile mainstream editorial and thought leadership coverage locally, regionally and nationally across our range of services and expertise.
Within the role, you will manage the full range of press and PR story generation, monitoring and liaising with the media. Identifying excellent opportunities for positive media coverage and providing an efficient service in response to media enquiries, you will work with the busy communications and marketing team and ensure that communications and PR materials are consistent and in line with strategy and brand messaging.
As the successful candidate you will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and have previous experience in journalism, press office or media environment. With a demonstrable track record in copywriting and editing, you will have proven knowledge of running pro-active public relations campaigns and crisis management, coupled with experience of devising and managing in-house media training and media spokesperson databases.
With a professional approach, you will have strong writing and proof writing skills, an excellent knowledge of grammar and the ability to negotiate diplomatically and effectively with colleagues. A passion and understanding for wider marketing and communication objectives is key, as is having excellent verbal and written communication skills and an understanding of impact reporting.
