Contract Type:

To develop, implement and evaluate marketing, sales and client experience strategies across the marketing mix to increase client acquisition and retention in sufficient volume and quality to support the delivery of business growth services, achievement of targets and maximise the Business Growth Hub’s profile.

•Responsible for creating, managing and evaluating multi-channel marketing communications across the marketing mix including, public relations and events with a view to positioning the Hub and its associated services as the go to place across the region and wider North West.
•Identify and target key priority market segments for the Business Growth Hub’s services by developing and delivering a communications strategy to target these groups to ensure that the right type of client is attracted to the Hub’s offer and ongoing relationships are maintained.
•Developing and delivering a consistent set of messages for the Business Growth Hub and its portfolio of services that clearly articulate and position the Hub’s offer as best in class and continually ensure that these messages resonate with clients and lead to the take up of services.
•Develop mechanisms to maintain and build relationships with existing clients to ensure that clients have an excellent experience of working with the Hub leading to the take up of additional services.
•Leading on the Business Growth Hub’s digital strategy, ensuring site maintenance and continuous improvement and setting and measuring KPI across all digital channels including social media and ensure a first class customer experience and that the Hub is positioned as a go-to place on line for business support.
•Manage, lead and develop the Business Growth Hub’s marketing and event teams ensuring that all marketing communications and events programmes meet client requirements and the strategic objectives of the Business Growth Hub.
•Contract management of multiple external marketing and communications agencies ensuring performance against KPIs.
•Develop and utilise data strategies to influence marketing strategies and ensure that KPIs are reported regularly to the Director.


•Ensure circa 9,000 Hub engagements per annum. (Key client groups include growth companies and individuals across multiple industry sectors wishing to grow or start a business in Greater Manchester and the North West.)
•Manage the marketing and events team with circa 8 staff.
•Manage a budget of circa £660k turnover.
•Establish KPIs for, and reporting to senior management on all marketing activity.
•The Marketing and Client Engagement Manager will work closely with the Director and service managers and will have a thorough understanding of each service and wider BFBS offering and will also support the work of the central Manchester Growth Company marketing teams.
•Liaison and relationship management with external suppliers – particularly digital, design and public relations agencies.
•Key external relationships include Hub partners and intermediaries, such as banks, solicitors, accountants, funding partners: DCLG, BIS, Local authorities, HE/FE institutes, other national/regional/local agencies and bodies, trade associations etc.

This is an Operational role and therefore requires a proven track record of lead generation and client handling at a senior level.

Essential Skills:
•Skilled in management of support services with the ability to lead and inspire; with a proven track record in achieving sales and account management targets, including appraising, mentoring, coaching, leading teams to increased performance
•Excellent copywriting skills

•Ability to communicate confidently with people at all levels within the organisation

•Working knowledge of the use and capability multi-channel and data driven marketing solutions
