As we strive for further success the Head of Timeline North is key in leading and driving Timeline Television North through to exciting new heights.
The Head of Timeline North will be responsible for:
Keeping abreast of future business strategy across Timeline’s Production Services and provide strategic direction to your department.
Work within financial limits and take responsibility for the budgets issued.
Business development and planning.
Owning the Business Plan and forecast for Timeline North business unit
Growing the client list and engaging with current and potential clients regularly to seek and develop opportunities.
Preparing quotations for clients, negotiating best solutions and ensuring delivery.
Planning for development of Services and staff to meet changing client needs.
Ensuring prompt and accurate billing
Managing, developing and recruiting the Timeline North team.
Marketing liaison to assist with events and contributing content for website and other media channels.
Representing Timeline TV in the most positive way in the industry.
Controlling costs of delivery and projects to protect and grow margin.
Developing a strong working link with the Finance teams to ensure that any changes (incremental plans or derisking/de-commitments of plans) are reflected in the following months forecast from the relevant business units.
Department P&L Accounts – To assist the Finance Department in the production, management and maintenance of departmental profit and loss accounts regarding financial performance, including operating costs, turnover and efficiency savings.
Following Timeline TV health and safety policies and procedures and report any safety issues to line management, benchmarking best practice knowledge, both internally and externally, and applying this knowledge across Operations to drive improvements.
Developing and maintaining good quality freelance partners and supplier business relationships.
Scope & impact
Key to the successful operation, the Head of Timeline North will:
Identify key client targets and develop productive relationships at a senior level to drive new business and client acquisition. Develop strong relationships with existing clients to secure future business and drive engagement across our new propositions.
Working in collaboration with all the business units i.e. Outside Broadcasting, Radio Frequency, and Post Production to align business objectives, project scoping, planning and reporting regularly business progress from Timeline North.
The priority will be to deliver a world-class service by developing a realistic and challenging departmental strategy, service levels and performance indicators.
A highly self-motivated and target oriented professional, capable of driving revenue and optimising the sales funnel with an unrelenting focus on growth. Be a strong and comfortable negotiator with the ability to close sales.
Setting up key relationships with the new and existing suppliers and ensuring general supplier delivery against key requirements and timescales.
To manage and coordinate all Timeline North activities with a practical ‘hands on style’ to manage the entire technical team, office activities and processes.
You will require strong leadership capability to give direction, maintain a strong service ethic and instill a culture of high performance, through creating and setting a vision of how highly motivated teams can work together
Contribute and drive overall department direction and strategy in conjunction with leadership team.
Gravitas and confidence with excellent communication and presenting skills are all prerequisites. Engage and build strong relationship with Timeline clients and operational team.
Skills, knowledge and experience
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:
A comprehensive understanding and experience of all aspects of Broadcast production for Entertainment, Films, Documentaries, News and Sports.
Full understanding of the different disciplines sitting within post production (editing, audio, media management etc.) and ability to knowledgably liaise with each specialist function.
A proven track record of working at a senior level within a broadcaster or other large-scale television/film production environment.
Please note that core hours are 9.00am-5.30pm Monday – Friday. However, Timeline Television is a 24/7, 365 days a year operation and as such you will be expected to work irregular hours where necessary in line with your productions/customers.
