Amaze PR is on the hunt for a gifted Head of PR to manage its PR division to cover for a year’s maternity leave. The ideal candidate will have experience at running a PR department, ideally within an agency environment, and will be able to hit the ground running to ensure seamless management of the team and accounts.
Set within a strong digital marketing team, the PR division currently works alongside social, seo, media, content and digital experts on mostly consumer brands like The Saucy Fish Co., Manchester City Football Club, Virgin Trains and Oxfam. The integrated work spans media relations, social media, content marketing and outreach work.
You’ll take full responsibility for the seamless running of the department, delivering against business targets, achieving recognition for award-winning work and ensuring client satisfaction. You’ll work closely with the MD of Communications to report on team performance and will work closely with the C Suite of many of your clients, so experience of working alongside senior executives is essential.
You’ll also be working alongside colleagues from the field of SEO, paid media, design and build, creative, strategy and analytics, so you’ll need to be fluent across digital with an appreciation of the role of each of these different disciplines and how PR works alongside each.
The PR Team has its own P&L and drives its own new business. This will be the biggest focus of your job, You’ll need ambition and drive to grow the department by bringing in new high-calibre clients and by enhancing the reputation of the business.
– Minimum 10 years experience working within consumer PR
– Managing a team of 10+
– Experience working within an agency and ideally some time spent in house
– Proven new business skills
– Working alongside integrated marketing disciplines
– Educated to degree or equivalent level
– Fluent across digital and social media
New business skills: To take full responsibility for winning new business. Have the ability to identify new business leads and nurture client relationships. Demonstrate outstanding pitch writing and presentation skills and possess an ability to coach less experienced colleagues on pitch performance. A proactive approach to developing opportunities is required so good networking skills are a must.
Account management: Have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail when overseeing accounts, reporting against KPIs for clients and internal performance metrics. To take ultimate responsibility for all departmental reporting outputs, encouraging the team to harness the latest in monitoring and evaluation techniques to further benefit clients and Amaze’s reputation
Creativity: Ability to demonstrate on trend creative flair and inspire the same in peers. Able to provide senior sign off for all ideas presented to new and existing clients to ensure they reflect well on Amaze’s creative reputation
Team management: Proven experience at managing a high performing team. Have the ability to lead by example and inspire colleagues in order to get the best performance from all members of the team. Be able to spot and nurture talent, and take the lead on performance management issues.
Finance: Work alongside the MD of communications on managing the PR P&L, working towards meeting financial targets and reviewing accounts against key business metrics. Demonstrable experience of growing revenue and reporting back to the business on financial success and issues.
Sector knowledge: Demonstrate an understanding of the evolving world of PR, content and social media and have the ability to interpret and harness these changes for the benefit of Amaze and our clients. Proven interest in wider communications disciplines and how they impact and work alongside PR. Must be able to act as a spokesperson for Amaze PR both internally and externally.
Outreach: Have a sophisticated understanding of PRs relationship with SEO and demonstrate an ability to maximise outreach techniques for SEO clients.
Marketing expertise: Have an understanding of the customer journey and how and where PR fits within this is a must. Experience of working in an integrated way with other marketing disciplines is essential.
Reputation building: Take the lead in growing Amaze PRs reputation internally and externally. Have strong experience in trade media relations, thought leadership and speaker opportunities to grow Amaze’s industry reputation. Have the ability to utilise integrated techniques to further Amaze PR’s visibility online in order to attract new business and candidates.
